I first learned to make a traditional Parol Lantern out of bamboo imported from the Philippines with the SF City College Filipino club PEACE. A few years later I was hired to organize the SF Parol Lantern Festival, where I coordinated Parol-making workshops across the city and a culminating parade. This continues to be a fun crafty holiday activity that I share with family and friends, as we pass the tradition down to the next generation.
